Rick Albers, Accountant
My name is Rick Albers. I joined the Mirazon team in March of 2013 on a part-time basis. I am currently filling a role in the accounting department. I enjoy the challenges and opportunities that working here provides and I thoroughly enjoy the people I work with. hey are capable, dedicated folks who do a great job and yet still find time to have some fun and laugh. Mirazon is a great place to work and learning about the ever-changing business of technology is very interesting.
This is a new career field and quite a change for me. I worked the previous 40 years of my career as a firefighter. I served as fire chief for 22 of those years, about half the time as the chief of a municipal fire department and half as chief of a suburban fire protection district. I retired as chief in October, 2011. I’m still involved in the fire service on a volunteer basis in my home community. Any firefighter will tell you that once you get firefighting in your blood, it’s there for life.
I’ve had the opportunity to help others during times of crisis, many times over. It is very rewarding and satisfying to be there in times of need. I have a lot of interesting stories and experiences to tell about. Some are sad but the vast majority have a happy outcome and many are very funny. I’m also blessed with many wonderful lifelong friends from the fire service. I wouldn’t trade those friendships or the many stories and memories of those years for anything.
Outside of work, I am a fan of Louisville Cardinals basketball and football, Cincinnati Reds baseball and Canadian fishing trips. I enjoy working on my collection of four antique fire trucks, using them for parades, kids birthday parties and similar events. My wife Karen and I enjoy gardening, traveling and spending time with our families. As I said, the experience of working as part of the Mirazon team is enjoyable.
